Altar Servers

MINISTRY NAME: ALTAR SERVERS

WHO DOES MINISTRY SERVE: This ministry serves our Holy Rosary-St. Richard Parish community by children assisting the Priests at Mass.

WHAT DOES MINISTRY DO: This ministry gives children that have received their First Communion the ability to be involved at Mass and assist the Priests and Deacons during Mass.

THE PRIMARY GOALS THE MINISTRY SEEKS TO ACHIEVE:

1. Always seek to have two Altar Servers at every scheduled Mass.

2. Provide the Altar Servers not only with the opportunity for service hours, but also a chance to be involved in Mass and serve the Church.

HOW DOES MINISTRY SEEK TO ACHIEVE THESE GOALS: Email reminders are sent each week to notify who is serving the masses each week.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF MINISTRY MEMBERS: Altar Servers are responsible for showing up on time before Mass, typically at least 15 minutes prior to the normally scheduled masses. Altar Servers are to be properly dressed. No tennis shoes and no jeans.

GIFTS/QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS NEEDED BY MEMBERS TO SERVE IN MINISTRY: Young members of the Holy Rosary St. Richard Parish community, who received First Communion, who are reliable and dependable, and who are committed to serving at the masses that the Altar Server is scheduled to serve.

TIME COMMITMENT REQUIRED BY MEMBER TO SERVE: Usually at least 1 hour a month.

WHEN DOES MINISTRY MEET: No scheduled meetings.

WHERE DOES MINISTRY MEET: When we do meet it is in the church and Parish Center.

TRAINING OR OTHER SUPPORT PROVIDED TO MEMBERS: Training is offered on an as needed basis.
