MINISTRY NAME: ARTS AND ENVIRONMENT

WHO DOES MINISTRY SERVE: The Parish Community

WHAT DOES MINISTRY DO: Church decorations and other minor improvements.

THE PRIMARY GOALS THE MINISTRY SEEKS TO ACHIEVE:

1. To recruit volunteers and work closer with other ministries that are relevant to our work like the sacristans, garden club, etc.

2. To create awareness among the parishioners of the church environment’s liturgical importance and to encourage them to make special monetary contributions to fund the ministry.

3. To have better control of the inventory of resources like fabrics, flower vases, statues, etc.

HOW DOES MINISTRY SEEK TO ACHIEVE THESE GOALS: Through notes in the bulletin and special announcements in the masses. Keeping open communication with other ministries. Organizing and classifying materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF MINISTRY MEMBERS: Attend planning meetings where tasks will be assigned as needed.

GIFTS/QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS NEEDED BY MEMBERS TO SERVE IN MINISTRY: Crafters, handymen, florists, seamtresses, organizers, interior designers, horticulturists. To work on installation days we need people physically able to carry things, climb ladders, vacuum floors and clean.

TIME COMMITMENT REQUIRED BY MEMBER TO SERVE: Must be available on dates around main celebrations of the liturgical year like Lent, Holy Week, Advent and Christmas.

WHEN DOES MINISTRY MEET: Meetings are held 4-5 times before beginning of a liturgical season for planning purposes. All other meetings are for hands-on work.t

WHERE DOES MINISTRY MEET: At church.

TRAINING OR OTHER SUPPORT PROVIDED TO MEMBERS: Mostly informal training has been provided to volunteers. But once we officially recruit people, we can organize a presentation of the liturgical year and the different seasons with its respective colors, meanings as well as general information on what is correct and what not in the liturgical environment.
